Archives for the month of: July, 2012

Aside from making a long line of people wait outside for 30mins before letting them in (thank you Miranda! just kidding) this event went without a bump in the road…well, except for the clogged toilet. LET’S GET THE SHOW STARTED! Always a blessing to have him, first on stage “KROSSWORDZ“. This MC brings a powerful message that doesn’t hold anything back while keeping you rocking your head back and forth to some awesome wall rattling beats. Krosswordz was joined on stage by his son (an awesome talent as well) Xclusive and ProsperaD and letting the mic be passed around by these 3 artist is a guaranteed great performance that still has my 6 year old son singing “we chase Him like this, we chase Him like that“.

Second on stage, one of my favorite High Desert groups, “HOLY KISS“. When you start your set with Steve Miller’s “The Joker” mixed with “Holiness” you can pretty much bet that the rest of the songs are going to be awesome. Floyd and Letrice have such a great sound, their vocals mix so good that their harmony’s kept my ears wide open from beginning to end.

COOOOLLLOOOOOSSSAAALLLLPANIC!!!!!! Ok, i’ll bring my dramatic meter down, I just can’t help but to get excited when I see this group, the praise & worship band “COLOSSAL PANIC“. The instantly took the crowd into hand clapping praise and then ended their set with a CP original, but it was their cover of “You Won’t Relent” that allowed the crowd to worship freely along side of Colossal Panics guitars and violin.

I was excited to see and hear “DAYSEYE” when they wheeled in their own light show. Then I was excited because they brought in enough speakers that their hometown of Barstow could enjoy the show without leaving their homes, but then I noticed they had a fog machine and I knew these guys came to rock. Right from the intro DaysEye had me on the edge of my seat and after hearing their song “I’m Down” I am very sure that these guys are on their way to making a name for themselves throughout the country. Lead singer Travis Schooler is a perfect front man for this group. His powerful guitar sounds fit perfectly with his strong vocals that rocked the crowd through the whole set. As awesome as the music was Travis really connected with the crowd when he shared his testimony. It was during that time where the audience was able to see the heart of this awesome group.

And just when I thought this show couldn’t get any better…it does. Next up, my good friends “CAUGHT UP“. Do I even need to tell you how awesome their performance was? Well if you weren’t there then let me tell you…it rocked. From the first sound of the vocals over those hard-hitting drums and guitars we were loving it. The whole place went crazy when they played their up tempo version of “Revelation Song” and as soon as they started the bass line to “Secret Admirer” I was reminded why these guys are one of my favorite local bands. This had to be one of my favorite Caught Up performances and I believe that we are looking at a group that is going to have huge impact on the Christian Music Scene. -Esteban

I remember when I first tried ranch dressing on my pizza, it sounded like a weird idea but once I actually tasted it I thought “duh, of course it taste good“. Whether you eat pizza with ranch dressing, dip your fries in your milk shakes, or put Tapitio on EVERYTHING, sometimes the most unlikely combinations just go great together. And so it is with the band “Caught Up“. You take hard-hitting drums, fast pace tempos, rock powered guitar riffs, and mix them with a sweet sounding worship vocalist and you get this Punk, Rock, and Worship fusion. These guys have such an awesome sound that from the first bass note of their song “Secret Admirer” you’ll be hooked and singing along to catchy tunes that will be stuck in your head for days. So whether you want to enjoy some great song writing mixed with an awesome 6 member band or if you want to mosh to their up tempo version of “Revelation Song” this band is definitely something you don’t want to miss. -Esteban
